A Sweet Surprise: Biltmore Chefs Turn Dottie’s Art into Edible Masterpieces

On August 1st, 2025, Dottie returned to the historic Dairy Foreman’s cottage at the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. This cottage provides Dottie with a tranquil, relaxed escape from the Florida heat. The Biltmore leadership and culinary team at the Inn decided to do something special: Chef Bermyson Dovril and Pastry Chefs Dana McFarland and Ashley Gretta looked at Dottie’s website and selected six paintings to recreate in exquisite pastry. They surprised Dottie with their works of art: miniature replicas of her art, created using edible ink on edible paper and overlaid on sugar cookies, which were then painted with semi-sweet chocolate. The “paintings” were placed on chocolate easels and secured with cold air. Dottie was delighted with this nod to her Art and got a personal report of the step-by-step construction. More Biltmore-inspired Dorion artwork will likely appear on the website this Fall!
